Junior Environmental Engineer

The Role

As a Junior Environmental Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of our most groundbreaking initiatives, with full access to our organisation and cutting-edge work. You will tackle unique engineering challenges within our industry and collaborate with other specialists to shape vital elements of Research and Development (R&D), Planning and Network Engineering activities within our Studies Programme.

You will conduct studies and devise innovative solutions on wide ranging projects helping us to understand our impacts on the environment and putting together plans to address them: from sustainable levels of water abstraction to the impact of spills on shellfish and bathing waters you will be part of the team finding solutions to our long term challenges. As part of our team you will work with everybody from our operators, regulators to leading specialists to manage projectsrewilding and re-naturalisating rivers, peatland and wild water bodies to improve water quality and lock up carbon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate project lifecycle from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Translate complex technical details into clear, actionable information for team communication.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks and blockers to maintain progress.
  • Ensure strict adherence to governance, documentation, and financial oversight processes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • With support from UU, become a chartered project manager with the Association for Project Management (APM)

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant science and/or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC or higher) or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
  • Experience providing technical advice, influencing the delivery of successful engineering outcomes
  • Hold a current Full UK driving licence
