We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the lead teacher to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. Your contributions will help students thrive academically and personally, as you assist in delivering lessons, managing the classroom, and providing individualized support.

Key Responsibilities for a Teaching Assistant:

  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to deliver effective lessons, working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.

  • Provide extra support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they remain engaged and are able to keep up with the curriculum.

  • Conduct review sessions, tutoring, and additional practice to strengthen students' understanding of key concepts.

  • Help maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment, addressing any behavioural issues as they arise.

  • Assist with the setup and preparation of classroom materials and resources for daily activities and lessons.

  • Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-classroom periods, ensuring their safety and well-being.

  • Aid in the preparation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.

  • Assist in grading assignments, recording grades, and maintaining accurate records of student progress.

  • Help create and maintain classroom displays, bulletin boards, and other educational visuals.

  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their active participation and interest in learning.

  • Support students' social and emotional development by offering guidance and creating a nurturing environment.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to address academic or behavioural concerns and promote student success.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to continually improve your skills and knowledge.

  • Stay informed about educational best practices and new teaching strategies that can be integrated into your role.

Qualifications for a Teaching Assistant:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and follow the lead teacher's guidance.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Classroom).
