We are seeking a dedicated Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to join a welcoming primary school in the heart of a vibrant, historical town. This is a rewarding role designed to support the needs of individual pupils with tailored educational plans, helping them navigate their school day and make the most of their learning experience.

The school in Peacehaven, provides a nurturing environment, where the focus is on fostering academic progress alongside personal development. It serves children aged 4 to 11 and prides itself on a strong community ethos, supported by its connection to the Church of England. The school boasts a solid academic reputation, with consistently good Ofsted ratings and a commitment to both academic achievement and the social well-being of its pupils. The team is highly collaborative, working together to ensure every child can thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tailored Support: Provide personalized assistance to students with individual learning needs, ensuring they can participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Implementation of IEPs: Assist in the execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with teachers to address each student's specific requirements.
  • Academic Assistance: Help students with their academic work, including one-on-one tutoring and supporting in-class tasks to ensure understanding and progress.
  • Behaviour and Engagement: Support students in managing their behaviour and staying engaged with lessons, promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and adjust strategies that support the student's needs.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track and report on students' progress, providing feedback and suggestions for further support.

Qualifications:

  • Experience or Qualification: Prior experience or relevant qualifications in supporting students with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Skills and Attributes: Strong communication skills, empathy, patience, and the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Understanding of SEND: Knowledge of special educational needs and disability (SEND) requirements is advantageous.
