Accounts Assistant Part Time

Reed accountancy have recently partnered up with a business who are on the lookout for a part time accounts assistant to join their team. Ideally from a legal background but open to accountancy experience in other sectors the right candidate will be joining a small team of 4.

The client is flexible in relation to working patterns and would be open for someone to do a 25 hour week over 5 days or 21 hours over 3.

This role has come up due to growth of the business.

The Role

  • Daily Banking and Reconciliation: Managing daily banking activities and reconciling accounts.
  • BACS and CHAPS Payments: Handling electronic payments via BACS and CHAPS
  • Inter-Account Transfers: Facilitating transfers between different accounts.
  • Client Payment Processing: Managing client payments.
  • Monitoring Incoming Client Funds and Bank Transfers: Keeping track of funds received from clients and other bank transfers.
  • Handling Queries from Fee Earners and Auditors: Addressing general inquiries from colleagues and auditors.
  • Invoice Processing (Internal and Purchase Ledger) and Completion Statements: Managing invoices and verifying completion statements.
  • Ensuring Compliance with SAR, Money Laundering, and VAT Regulations: Adhering to legal and financial regulations.
  • Assisting with Credit Control: Supporting credit control efforts when necessary.
  • Weekly Payment Runs and Supplier Communication: Preparing weekly payment batches and liaising with suppliers.
  • Expenses and Company Credit Card Transactions: Processing expense claims and credit card transactions.
  • Handling Searches (HMLR, HMCTS, Companies House, etc.): Conducting searches related to property, legal, and business matters.
  • Resolving Ledger Queries and Miscellaneous Transaction Requests: Addressing ledger-related inquiries and other financial requests.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with Routine Projects: Collaborating on tasks such as managing client residual balances and routine accounting duties.

The Person

  • Good understanding of Solicitors SRA Account Ruled preferred.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as required.
  • Demonstrate reliability, organisation and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Has a strong attention to detail and is able to work effectively under pressure.
  • This is a fast paced role and the ability to work under pressure, with accuracy is essential.
  • Being able to maintain confidentiality to our internal and external clients.
