Textile Machine Operatives

Pay: Starting from £11.44 - £13p/h

Various shifts patterns available, all Mon - Fri:

  • Rotating 5.45am - 2pm and 1.45pm - 10pm
  • Nights = 9.45pm - 6am

Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire

Duration: Temporary - Permanent

We are actively recruiting for textile operatives to work in various departments on behalf of our client, a multi-award-winning textile manufacturer with two centuries of heritage! Our client creates high quality finishes on an ever-increasing range of fabrics, from the finest worsted suiting, specialised safety clothing and upholstery to public transport.

Various Roles and Responsibilities:

Tenter Operative

  • Operating Tenter Machine (and other machines where required) full training will be given.
  • Following Tenter SOP and cleaning procedure
  • Maintaining a clear and safe warehouse / walkways
  • Keeping the machine in a clean and safe condition
  • Moving A-frames/Carts from Tenter to inspections/finishing/dye house.
  • Following Procedures on worksheets
  • Assisting in general duties in the factory (multiskilling)
  • Reporting any faults or inconsistencies to management
  • Adhering to health and safety policies and safe systems of work

Griege Room Operative

  • Cutting of fabric.
  • Moving of fabric rolls and moving large carts around various departments (physical work).
  • Sewing up and correctly marking of fabric.
  • Operating machines, tumbler, bagging and dry cleaner.
  • Re-sewing of Cloth.
  • Ensuring work station and department are all kept tidy in line with H&S.
  • Following Procedures on Worksheets.
  • Assisting in general preparation duties in the factory (multiskilling).

Dyehouse Operative

  • Ability to locate/identify the correct pieces of fabric for scheduling.
  • Ability to manually handle fabric into and out of the dye vessels.
  • Attention to detail required for working with dye recipe's and the distribution of colour to the correct dyeing machines.
  • Comfortable to work on feet all day and wear necessary PPE.
  • Well organised and efficient in emptying/loading dyeing equipment.
  • Ensuring work station and department are all kept tidy in line with H&S.
  • Following Procedures on Worksheets.
  • Assisting in general duties in the factory (multiskilling).

De-Twisting Operative

  • Re-sewing of cloth for the De-twister.
  • Ensuring fabric is sewn face to face at all times when sewing together at De-Twister.
  • Pushing carts from one area to another. (physical work)
  • Ensuring stacking and storage is such that it keeps walkways and access points clear.
  • Following Procedures on worksheets for different fabric qualities.
  • Assisting in general duties in the factory (multiskilling).
  • Keeping the machine in a clean and safe condition.
  • Reporting any faults or inconsistencies to management.
  • Adhering to health and safety policies and safe systems of work.

Knowledge and aptitudes required:

  • Good hand eye co-ordination
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Communicate effectively
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • A positive and enthusiastic approach to work
  • Previous machine / manufacturing experience
