Senior Mobile Developer - expert Android, upskill on iOS, software engineering background

Hybrid - one day per week in London office

To 80k (negotiable) + strong wider benefits

This Senior Mobile Developer role would suit a mobile developer with a strong software engineering background who has started their career focusing on Android, who is also interested in developing their skills on iOS. In the mobile team everyone works across both platforms.

Our client is a digital surgery scale-up with a rapidly growing customer base across the UK, Europe, US and Australia, working with prestigious healthcare companies.

Sustained growth and a recent partnership with a billion-dollar US healthcare company has created this new opening for an expert native Android Engineer - as they enter a transition phase where they'll scale app usage by 10x over the next 12 months.

You will be a natural problem-solver committed and analytical, a high-energy person keen to learn while always being delivery minded, a self-starter for whom everything is possible, but the best solution is always the most appropriate one.

The Senior Mobile Developer role:

  • Working with the Lead Mobile Developer to deliver the Android app
  • Growing as an iOS Developer, to help deliver the iOS app. (They have strong source code parity between Kotlin/Swift, achieving very good cross-platform efficiency within pure native codebases)
  • Ensuring strong source code parity across platforms
  • Modernising older parts of the codebase, e.g. moving legacy UI pages to Jetpack Compose
  • Helping to introduce UI and snapshot test automation, to augment existing strong unit tests

Requirements:

  • Degree educated in Computer Science, Maths or similar, or have equivalent commercial experience
  • Highly skilled in native Android development
  • A desire to develop skills in native iOS development (Kotlin, Java, libraries)
  • Understanding of best practices for app development and testing
  • Understanding of software design patterns, including UI architectural patterns particularly in regard to native mobile apps
  • Humility and desire to learn from anyone

In summary. A stunning career move!
