People and Culture Advisor
- Location: West Midlands based, with regular travel to Esher
- Full time, hybrid working
- Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum dependent on experience
Our client are a UK-based charitable organisation that provides a wide range of health and social care services aimed at creating safer and healthier communities. Their work focuses on supporting individuals and families affected by homelessness, domestic abuse, substance abuse and crime.
They are now seeking a People and Culture Advisor to provide expert HR advice and support across various functions. This role is crucial for fostering a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with HR policies and employment law, and supporting our People Partners in enhancing employee engagement and organisational effectiveness.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Offer expert advice on complex onboarding scenarios, including pre-employment checks and occupational health recommendations.
- Assist in managing probation procedures for new starters, including reviews, extensions, and terminations.
- Support the development and review of job adverts, descriptions, and onboarding processes.
- Update and maintain all staff changes on the HR Information System (HRIS) and ensure accurate payroll documentation.
- Monitor and manage sickness absence entries and support in absence management procedures.
- Provide first-tier advice on employee relations, including performance management, disciplinaries, and conflict resolution.
- Assist in policy development and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Lead and participate in HR projects to improve processes and enhance employee engagement.
- Support training and development initiatives and facilitate HR-related workshops.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- CIPD Level 5 Diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a generalist HR/People Advisory role within a busy advisory function.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practices, and recruitment processes.
- Experience with HR Information Systems and payroll processes.
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations discreetly.
