Building Safety Manager

Adecco are delighted to be partnering with a Bedfordshire based housing association in their recruitment of a Building Safety Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Building Safety and Compliance, the Building Safety Manager will manage Higher Risk Buildings across various sites within Bedfordshire in accordance with the safety case report and to provide prescribed information to the regulator in accordance with the mandatory reporting requirements. The 3 main purposes of the Building Safety Manager are;

  1. Managing building safety in accordance with the proposed safety case.
  2. Facilitating the discharge of statutory duties.
  3. Supporting and enabling residents.

The function and role of the Building Safety Manager is to support the accountable person, in fulfilling their duties to manage fire safety risks and include;

  • Ensuring and assessing that those employed to maintain and manage the building have the necessary skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Maintaining and operating information management systems to facilitate safe management of the building.
  • Maintaining and managing the safety case for the building so that risks are proactively identified, and mitigating measures put in place and maintained.
  • Identifying and ensuring that necessary and appropriate building remediation is undertaken to ensure that the conditions set out in the building registration certificate are met.
  • Engaging residents in the safe management of their building through a Resident Engagement Strategy that includes routes of escalation for resident concerns.
  • Demonstrating that fire risk assessments for the whole building are undertaken and reviewed regularly and any recommendations are undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Reporting mandatory occurrences to the Building Safety Regulator.

Qualifications or training required (or appropriate demonstrable experience)

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • NEBOSH fire safety (or equivalent).
  • Membership of IFE or IFSM (or equivalent).
  • Building related degree or similar qualification/experience.
  • Higher grade fire safety related qualification.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Must be willing to continue formal learning as part of the role of the Building Safety Manger.
