Health and Safety Coordinator

  • Part-time (32 hours per week)
  • Location: London
  • Salary: £28,000-£35,000 pa

We are seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure our School's premises, including the main site, sports field, and residential houses, are well-managed, safe, and secure. This role is ideal for an organised, forward-thinking, and adaptable individual with excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Formulate, implement, and monitor the school's Health and Safety legal requirements.
  • Coordinate and assist staff in implementing the Health and Safety policy and programme.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections, and departmental reviews.
  • Draft and update policies and procedures.
  • Manage accident reports using the EVOLVE system and arrange RIDDOR reporting.
  • Investigate reported accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Maintain information on hazardous substances and manage Health & Safety training records.
  • Lead the Health & Safety Committee, arrange meetings, and manage actions.
  • Organise fire evacuation and critical incident drills.
  • Oversee water and legionella risk assessments and manage actions.
  • Liaise with external Risk Managers and produce an annual Health & Safety report.
  • Manage tender selection and contractors for Health & Safety related works.
  • Support staff in carrying out their Health & Safety duties.
  • Ensure compliance with Independent Schools Standards Regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH qualification, preferably obtained within the last 3 years.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience managing Health & Safety and Fire Safety compliance on a large estate or school site.
  • Proven track record in project management and working with diverse teams.
  • Experience in tendering services.
