The Highland Drove is a family run18th century Inn with an upstairs and downstairs restaurant, bar and room for 60 covers. We have 3 B&B rooms open and a busy restaurant so we're now looking build a team in the kitchen that can grow with our plans to expand.

We serve food 7 days a week consisting of weekday evenings, all day Saturday and Sunday lunch. Shifts will consist of a mix of weekday and weekend shifts but will never be split shifts. We are looking for a passionate chef to work closely within the friendly kitchen team and help to grow and develop the business.

Consistency and quality is key, so we're looking for a candidate who can prep for service, and cover starters and mains on a busy service while constantly delivering the standard of food our customers expect. While the core items remain the same, the menu changes on a monthly basis depending on market availability, seasonality and is always written with cost efficiency in mind. Teamwork is an important part of the business, we value the input of our employees and you'll be working alongside Tom and Mike on building a menu which changes weekly to reflect local and seasonal produce and market availability. No two days are the same here, theres always something new to prepare for and lots of opportunities to input your creativity into the business. Lots of menu creation is done outside, with a brew in the sunshine while enjoying our well stocked Koi pond. We have a newly established vegetable garden which we regularily harvest for the menu so things are as fresh and as local as we can possibly get them. We are have a brilliant beer garden and playground and are looking to expand out into outdoor catering and events in the near future.

The ideal candidate will be looking to stay with us long term with the possibility of real career progression for the right chef. Our plans for the future include food trucks, events and catering for large parties at the pub as well as expanding into catering for outdoor and private events and we hope to develop a festival catering team too.

Responsibilities:

  • Must have worked in a fresh food environment, cooking from scratch
  • passionate about local fresh produce
  • Must be aware of and work to current health and safety legislation
  • Have a good working attitude and a good rapport with all staff, front and back of house
  • Have knowledge of local food preparation.
  • Be able to work under pressure.
  • Passionate and keen to be part of building a long term future for the business
  • Driving licence would be a plus but not essential

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £11.40-£13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 35 per week
