Our Wilton International site, within the Teesside Freeport, sits amongst a hub of decarbonisation innovation. At the site, we provide energy-intensive industrial businesses with combined heat and power (CHP) via our private wire network that supplies electricity generated by gas and biomass.

These services are complemented by our fleet of fast-acting, decentralised power stations and battery energy storage sites situated throughout England and Wales. Monitored and controlled from our central operations facility in Solihull, these flexible assets deliver electricity to the national grid, helping to balance the UK energy system and ensure reliable power for homes and businesses.

Position Overview:

Work closely with the UK Head of Marketing, Communications and PR to promote key external messages and implement effective communications that ensure business ambitions and strategy are understood internally throughout the organisation. Part of a dynamic, fast-paced team who are responsible for the development of internal and external communications and brand management, ensuring consistency and alignment with global messaging. Support the creation and delivery of strategic communications for the UK in line with wider business objectives and industry developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the UK Head of Marketing, Communications and PR ensure the business strategy, positive news updates and key business developments are communicated to employees through relevant internal channels and externally where appropriate
  • Identify relevant conferences, trade shows, and industry events where the company can participate or speak as subject matter experts.
  • Assist with pre-promotion, collation of materials and presentations for tradeshows, seminars and other events
  • Work across departments to create internal communications content for relevant internal channels
  • Work closely with the Commercial team on customer communications, PR and actively gather information from site-based customers to develop content that can be published on social media channels
  • Ongoing content creation for the Wilton International and Sembcorp UK websites
  • Scan industry news, update relevant internal stakeholders, and assess opportunities for related content creation
  • Develop community engagement plans, volunteering and CSR activities, raising the profile of Sembcorp and promoting a positive image in the communities in which we operate
  • Liaise and collaborate with the Group Communications External, Internal and Sustainability teams for alignment with global messaging and goals, and mutual support of internal and external campaigns. Regularly report UK activities and campaign performance, community and stakeholder engagement, and sponsorship activities
  • Be a brand guardian by developing and maintain internal and external assets reflecting Sembcorp branding and image, including across digital platforms

Requirements:

Essential

  • A relevant degree in Marketing, PR, Communications or a related discipline or prior experience gained from a Communications or PR role within a fast paced in-house or agency environment is a must
  • The role will require a team player with excellent planning and time management/multi-tasking skills, with the ability to take the initiative and work independently with little supervision
  • High attention to detail and strong copywriting and proof-reading skills for a variety of channels - practical experience of writing marketing content a must
  • Well-versed in the latest social media and integrated communications channels
  • The successful candidate will be able to work under pressure and to tight timescales
  • Proven internal and external stakeholder engagement skills are essential
  • Proven ability to establish personal credibility with internal content experts, pick up new information quickly and translate complex data and ideas into accessible language that can be understood by all
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office suit
  • A results-driven, career minded individual with a focus on achieving their goals and exceeding expectations.
  • Must have the ability to do occasional travel to other sites and for events which will involve overnight stays away from home
  • Full driving licence required for travel to Wilton International and to prospective operational sites which are located throughout England and Wales
  • Right to work in the UK is essential

Desirable

  • Prior experience of managing trade media journalists would be beneficial
  • Experience of crisis and change management communications would be beneficial
  • Energy industry experience would be advantageous
