Location: Soho
Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 per annum (+ service charge post-probation)
Hours: 40 hours per week (5 days, 8-hour shifts)

Job Description:

  • Manage all aspects of kitchen operations and maintain high food quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve kitchen issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Delegate various kitchen tasks throughout the store.
  • Train and support kitchen staff to maximize productivity and sales.
  • Ensure compliance with local hygiene, health, and safety regulations.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Keen palate and genuine enthusiasm for food - experience as a head chef in a branded chain of restaurants, cafés, or bistros.
  • Strong skills in cost control for multi-unit food establishments.
  • Knowledgeable about ingredients and their combinations.
  • Proficient in computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Excellent time management, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
  • Leadership skills with a focus on fostering a team environment.
  • Passion for Italian cuisine and experience in its preparation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan food and equipment requirements.
  • Maintain health and sanitary standards to protect customer health.
  • Produce high-quality food according to provided recipes and portions.
  • Monitor food quality to ensure it meets company standards.
  • Ensure timely preparation of dishes in hygienic conditions.
  • Maintain records of food production and control wastage.
  • Adhere to kitchen uniform and personal hygiene standards.
  • Ensure the kitchen is stocked with necessary goods.
  • Manage, delegate, and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a team culture with front-of-house staff.
  • Establish and maintain supplier contacts to get the best deals.
  • Ensure supplies and stocks are adequately maintained.
  • Assist with marketing operations and strategy implementation.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Culinary school graduate or a degree in hospitality or catering management.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Head Chef, Food Supervisor or Food Manager.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience working abroad (preferably in Europe).
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
