Overview:

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and professional Assistant Security Manager (Operations) to cover all Trust sites but based at Royal Hallamshire Hospital. This role is crucial in managing and ensuring the delivery of a cost-effective, safe, and efficient security service across the Trust. The successful candidate will assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures, and provide a secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors, all the while demonstrating a caring and supportive nature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Trust-wide Security Service, ensuring adherence to policies, best practices, and high standards of service delivery.
  • Assist the Security Manager in reviewing procedures, conducting risk assessments, and producing action plans.
  • Deputise for the Security Manager at external security forums and maintain close liaison with stakeholders such as NHS Protect, local authorities, and police.
  • Provide leadership and ensure the health, safety, and welfare of security staff, including delivering CRT/Restraint training and monitoring mandatory training completion.
  • Oversee the functionality of security devices, equipment, and systems, ensuring all Trust property is security marked and access controls are maintained.
  • Investigate reported security incidents, conduct fact-finding investigations, and provide anti-crime advice.
  • Supervise 46 security staff, conduct annual appraisals, manage training needs, and oversee absence processes.
  • Assist in financial management by authorising timesheets, requisitioning items, and contributing to meeting the Trust Strategy requirements.

Person Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in security management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a naturally caring nature.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Demonstrated leadership and initiative.
  • This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.
