The English Teacher Job

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Secondary looking to make a real difference in the lives of children? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs, Secondary Teacher for a vibrant school with students aged 11-19 in Lambeth specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Mild Learning Difficulties (MLD). You will specifically be working with students in KS3 working with a specialised curriculum to enhance the students literacy skills.

In this rewarding English Teacher role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment tailored to the unique needs of each student. Your expertise as a English Teacher will help develop individualised learning plans that focus on and develop the students love of reading, comprehension and literacy skills through a modern and differentiated curriculum.

The School

The successful English Teacher applicant would be joining an outstanding SEN school in Lambeth for children with mild learning difficulties. This SEN school offers provision for pupils from 11- 19 years, who have a diagnosis of ASD and an EHCP. The school provides a range of unique enabling environments, both indoor and outdoor, which are used to maximise learning opportunities and meet pupil's specific needs and allows the students to gain independence and life skills. This school boasts a supportive environment and encourages students seek education beyond the classroom and into employment

English Teacher Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement personalised lesson plans for English lessons in KS3
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as the secondary teacher in the classroom.
- Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and in school.

- Work with and lead a support team within the classroom

English Teacher Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of ASD and MLD students
- Experience working in a special needs education setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
