Ideally candidates will have experience working with and recruiting volunteers, although this is not essential.

SALARY: £26,936 FTE / £14.00 per hour

LOCATION: Leicester, Leicestershire, East Midlands (LE3)

WORKING HOURS: 21 hours per week, Tuesday & Thursday 9.30am - 5.00pm, Friday 9.00am - 4.30pm

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Trainer / Training Officer who has experience of sourcing, supporting and delivering training courses, with excellent communication and organisation skills.

As the Trainer / Training Officer you will work as part of the Neighbourhood Support Team, upskilling and developing residents and volunteers using a variety of training methods. In addition to this, you will also support some training needs within the staff team.

Working as the Trainer / Training Officer you will support volunteer recruitment, oversee induction and supervision processes maintaining personnel and training records and work with the Service Manager to develop a volunteer strategy.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Trainer / Training Officer include:

  • Support volunteer recruitment: Design and develop a central recruitment calendar to ensure continuous recruitment of volunteers, ensure appropriate job descriptions and person specifications are developed and updated in line with opportunities
  • Actively help promote volunteer training opportunities using a variety of methods including community networks to recruit learners/ volunteers
  • Support learners/volunteers registration and induction
  • Build the capacity (Upskill) residents and volunteers by using a variety of informal and formal training methods, enabling them to support service delivery across the organisation and other appropriate volunteer/work related positions
  • Induct and supervise volunteers maintaining effective personnel, training and supervision records to track progress made and registering outcomes using the CRM system
  • Work with other staff to ensure outcomes are understood and included in grant monitoring forms required by funders and other stakeholders
  • Work with Service Manager to develop and maintain a company-wide volunteering strategy
  • Work with NST team to develop a range of short (informal) training courses to build confidence, increase motivation and address barriers in order to develop volunteer skills
  • Support and further develop the Men's Group (2hrs per week programme that delivers practical activities that enhance meaningful occupation and increases social networks). Demonstrate effective and safe planning e.g., risk assessments
  • Deliver short (informal) training courses (4-8 per year) to build learner/volunteer skills enabling a series of small community events
  • Maintain a professional overview of local and national trends related to training/staff development and take the lead in bringing these to the attention of the appropriate service

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in sourcing, supporting and delivering training courses is essential
  • Previous experience working with / recruiting volunteers would be preferred, but is not essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • Experience of recruitment, staff induction, training and development would be desirable
