One of the largest housing associations is looking for a temporary Property Surveyor in the North London area. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing building pathology matters from inspection through to completion, including case correspondence and stakeholder engagement. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to delivering successful outcomes and has a strong understanding of the property sector, particularly within social housing.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Conduct case works inspection, prescription, management, and ownership from creation through to completion.
  • Provide professional commentary, review, and support through engagement with customers, delivery partners, and legal counsel.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of completed works by managing own workload to diagnose and manage property defects, disrepair, and larger pieces of work.
  • Lead on the diagnostics of building issues and provide building pathology support across the Property Team.
  • Deal with all aspects of building maintenance and defects, including post-inspection and managing follow-on work.
  • Contribute to the development of works and provide technical support/advice.
  • Review Home Improvement requests, safeguarding the assets of the housing association.
  • Assist with works affecting party walls or work requests from leaseholders.
  • Make decisions regarding the recommendation of work to the Planned team or to carry out ad hoc replacements.
  • Liaise with the Voids team to inspect and agree specifications of work in accordance with the Lettings Standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or relevant professional qualification preferably gained within the Social Housing sector.
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of the property-related regulatory environment applicable to Housing Associations.
  • Demonstrable experience in working with Disrepair Protocol and delivering legal responsibilities.
  • Surveying qualification or demonstrable pathway towards competency.
  • Ability to understand the complex nature of building failure diagnosis (building pathology) and transfer to a quality written report.
  • Ability to instruct larger pieces of work ensuring H&S and risk management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prepared to travel to provide regional coverage.
