We are working with a forward thinking FMCG company who have a very ambitious growth plan ahead. They are now in a position where they require an experienced QA Manager to help facilitate these plans.

With a focus on continuous improvement and compliance with industry standards, the company is seeking a dedicated QA Manager to lead their QA team.

Job Responsibilities

  • As the QA Manager you will lead the QA team, driving a quality-focused culture throughout the business
  • Ensure that operational processes in production and fulfilment meet required quality standards and legal compliance, with a focus on food safety principles based on HACCP
  • Review and ensure full compliance with technical SOPs, documents, and records, and their implementation on the shop floor
  • Manage effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and production teams, to meet technical needs
  • Conduct regular meetings with direct reports, provide coaching, and conduct quarterly performance reviews
  • Oversee risk assessment processes, particularly in relation to new processes, products, or raw materials, and drive improvements
  • Participate in product and process development, ensuring technical responsibilities are met during factory production trials
  • Manage pest control accounts and oversee the resolution of non-conformance issues, working closely with the operational team to prevent recurrence
  • Conduct internal audits in accordance with the quality management system and lead customer complaint investigations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using modern CI tools, performing root cause analysis and problem-solving for safety and quality issues
  • Coordinate all lab testing and manage the calibration system
  • Support the Technical Manager and deputise in their absence, ensuring smooth departmental operations
  • Conduct regular site audits, including GMP, glass, and hard plastic audits, and drive improvements with operational teams
  • Ensure all technical documentation is audit-ready at all times

Person Specification

  • A degree in food science or a relevant discipline
  • Hands-on experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Level 3 HACCP
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in IT skills, particularly Excel, with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with ERP systems like Unleashed or Mint Soft is desirable

Hours of Work, Pay, and Benefits

  • Up to £35,000
  • Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00 (some flexibility required)
  • 25 days holiday
