Accounts Assistant

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our finance team at a prestigious organisation in Cumbria (LA12). Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role requires a detail-oriented individual capable of managing their own set of finance duties and working unsupervised.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Accurate processing of supplier invoices and reconciliation of supplier statements.
- Ensuring correct supplier balances and managing supplier payments with proper reconciliation.
- Handling all supplier queries efficiently.
- Conducting weekly cash counts and safe reconciliations.
- Assisting with monthly stock take preparation and completion.
- Maintaining an effective system for the filing, storage, and retrieval of all documents.
- Ordering and managing stationery and sundry items, maintaining correct par levels.
- Completing month-end tasks to ensure close by the deadline.
- Reconciling daily debit/credit card transactions and all cash on site.
- Ensuring staff adherence to correct cash up procedures and suggesting improvements.
- Preparing cash for daily banking and resolving card payment queries.
- Redeeming and reconciling gift vouchers and managing aged debtors reconciliations.
- Covering tasks for the Accounts Receivable Assistant as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar role.
- Well-organised, proactive, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills are essential.
- AAT qualification or working towards it is preferable.
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
