Salary: £28k -£35k

A leading force in the Build-to-Rent (BTR) sector which designs, constructs, and manages large-scale apartment schemes across the UK, is looking to on-board an Assistant Management Accountant. With a presence in 8 cities and plans for further expansion, they offer exclusive amenities for a diverse resident community.

As an Assistant Management Accountant, you'll support the company's operational portfolio homes, assisting with management reporting, cost analysis, and accounting processes. You will also engage in credit control, ensuring prompt rent collection and addressing resident inquiries. There are many opportunities for career progression as their portfolio continues to expand.

An ideal candidate will be an organised individual with a proactive mindset, adept at managing tasks efficiently. You will have attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate efficiently to multiple stakeholders are essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and journal adjustments.
  • Conduct cost analysis and identify savings opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate resident charge billing and oversee payment allocation.
  • Manage resident deposit reconciliations and execute rental deposit returns.
  • Supervise monthly Direct Debit collection process.
  • Generate regular reports on rent collection progress.
  • Coordinate legal processes for unpaid amounts recovery.
  • Assist on-site management with resident billing inquiries.
  • Handle recording of invoices, processing payments, and bank reconciliation.
  • Aid in preparing VAT returns and annual statutory accounts for the management company.

Key requirements:

  • Pursuing CIMA/ACCA qualifications (study support available)
  • Degree qualified
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and property management accounting software systems (such as Yardi and Microsoft Dynamics 365)
  • You will need some experience with Real Estate.
  • You should be self motivated and able to identify solutions and implement them to improve processes
  • Must have a solid understanding of bank reconciliations and double entry (debits and credits)
  • You should be comfortable speaking to customers and suppliers as required financial processes such as raising income charges, allocating cash received and preparing bank reconciliations.
