Independent Scrutineer

Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership are looking to recruit an Independent Scrutineer (Children and Young People) to join ourteam based in Suffolk, on a Self Employed basis (duration open to negotiation). The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of £700 per day.

Your role

Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership is seeking an Independent Scrutineer to carry out the duties outlined in Working Together 2023. The purpose of this role is to drive continuous improvement through scrutiny and challenge and to provide assurances locally that arrangements are working effectively for children, families, and practitioners.

Apply for this role if you:

  • have experience in holding senior leaders to account and providing rigorous strategic challenge at a system wide level
  • have detailed understanding of the relevant frameworks and legislations that guide children's safeguarding services in England
  • excel at looking wider at complex situations in multi-agency systems with a drive for making improvements
  • would like to work with partners in Suffolk to improve outcomes for children and young people locally.

Your responsibilities:

  • provide assurance to the whole system in judging the effectiveness of the multi-agency safeguarding arrangements through a range of scrutiny methods
  • ensure that statutory duties are being fulfilled and quality assurance mechanisms are in place
  • ensure that local child safeguarding practice reviews, national reviews, and thematic reports are analysed, with key learning areas identified and effectively implemented across the safeguarding system
  • ensure that the voice of children and families is considered as part of scrutiny and that this is at the heart of arrangements through direct feedback, informing policy and practice
  • provide Suffolk safeguarding partners and relevant agencies with independent, rigorous, and effective support and challenge at both a strategic and operational level.
