Chinese Speaking Underwriter

We are seeking a Chinese Speaking Underwriter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience in insurance underwriting, particularly in commercial lines, with personal line experience being an additional asset. This role requires a good understanding of underwriting insurance risks and relevant regulatory practices. Fluency in Chinese is essential for this position.

Day to day of the role:

  • Conduct new enquiry quotations by collecting information, examining proposals, calculating premiums, and issuing quotations.
  • Manage policy renewals by reviewing risks, processing renewals, and issuing renewal letters.
  • Issue policies by meeting deadlines to release live policy documents upon premium receipt.
  • Process cancellations by confirming with customers and coordinating with the Finance Department for refunds.
  • Highlight survey risk improvements by sending out documents and following up.
  • Build and maintain effective trading relationships with introducers to contribute to achieving results.
  • Handle online student products by explaining cover and providing customer support.
  • Maintain good relationships with direct clients and corporate customers by providing high-quality service.
  • Contribute to loss ratio control by assessing risk and imposing terms and conditions effectively.
  • Analyse retention levels and make adjustments after investigating factors affecting performance.
  • Provide consistent top-quality service to customers to enhance our reputation and increase the probability of renewals.
  • Support colleagues and undertake other tasks as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Over 3 years of experience in insurance underwriting in commercial lines.
  • Good knowledge and experience in underwriting insurance risks.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory practices and legislation in the industry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Certificate in insurance (Cert CII).
  • Fluency in Chinese.
