SEN Teacher

Your new companyHays Education are working with an Ofsted rated "Good" school in Bradford who have a Special Needs (SEN) Teaching job available, starting in September.
The school not only takes pride in students' academic achievements, they place emphasis on emotional security and confidence. The school is setting up two provision areas and want an experienced Teacher to lead on it. SEN experience is essential in order to support on planning and delivery.
Your new roleYou will be working with classes of between 6 and 8 students whose ages range from 5-19, all of whom have Autism (ASD) and sensory needs.
Each student has at least 1:1 TA support.
The job involves you planning, delivering and marking personalised learning for each student in a low arousal, non-confrontational and non-directive way.
You will be expected to work alongside teaching assistants, the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), parents/carers and other staff to ensure every student receives the best level of teaching and holistic support as possible.
This is a full-time job, working 09:00-16:00 Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 09:00-17:00 Wednesdays and 09:00-15:30 Fridays.
The job is to start in September and runs until October in the first instance.
There is a strong possibility of the job becoming permanent.
What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with children/adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ideally within the last 2 years
  • Experience working in an SEN school would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • A calm, patient and nurturing attitude
  • Enhanced, valid DBS registered on the Update Service or the willingness to apply for a new one if not
