Category Manager
- Pay Rate: Up to £450 per day (Umbrella / Inside IR35)

- Job Type: Initial 3-6 month contract
- Hybrid: 1 day in office per week (Wednesdays)
Reed are supporting a Greater Manchester Council in their recruitment to a Category Manager position. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a dedicated category of spend, ensuring strategic objectives of value for money and outcomes are met through a strategic category management approach.
Experience in Corporate, Indirects. Environmental and/or Construction would be a distinct advantage.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct procurement activities in a commercial manner, managing commercial risk effectively.
- Develop category strategy and sourcing plans, prioritising spend activity within the category to identify cost savings.
- Take ownership for the delivery of benefits through the implementation of sourcing strategies for agreed categories of spend.
- Ensure savings targets and KPIs with suppliers are achieved and ensure end user compliance to contracted suppliers.
- Understand and apply the Council's procurement methodology and Public Contracts Regulations, ensuring compliance with Council's Contract Procedure Rules and relevant legislative requirements.
- Develop Performance Indicators for Category Management within the Directorate and manage tender processes.
- Develop and maintain contract monitoring arrangements and enforce contracts as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in strategic category management and procurement within a Local Authority.
- Familiarity with Public Contracts Regulations and local government procurement methodologies.
- Proven ability to manage commercial risk and develop sourcing strategies.
- Experience in managing tender processes and contract performance.
- Proficiency in using e-procurement and financial management systems.
