Systems Engineering Manager

Due to a period of growth, our client is recruiting for a Systems Engineering Manager to join their engineering company in Clevedon, BS21. The successful candidate will have responsibility for leading, empowering and motivating a growing team of Systems Engineers for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

  • Up to £78,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Monday – Friday - Flexible start/finish times
  • Full time or part time applicants considered

About the role

  • Manage and lead Systems Engineering activities across applicable projects.
  • Develop a strategy compliant with 'ISO / IEC / IEEE 15288:2023 "Systems and software engineering – system life cycle processes" and implement this strategy.
  • Advocate and lead the adoption of best practice Systems Engineering consistent with INCOSE Handbook (ver. 5) across applicable projects to improve the delivery of the Engineering function.
  • Align compliance work ISO 15288:2023 to Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) maturity levels.
  • Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, team leaders, project managers, manufacturing, service, and customer representatives.
  • Manage the systems engineering budgets for people and financial resources and contribute to development of future forecasting.
  • Lead and coach a growing core team of Systems Engineers of all levels of expertise to continue their development towards being a Lead SE themselves.
  • Lead on the elicitation and delivery of requirements from Stakeholder Requirements to Product-level Requirements, establish functional and logical diagramming, and contribute to the development of validation and verification plans.

The right candidate

  • Systems Engineering Degree or demonstrable equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer registered (or working towards)
  • More than 10 years' experience of practical application of best-practice Systems Engineering in a relatable engineering industry
  • Project and budget management skills
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills at multiple organisational levels
  • Experience of recruiting, interviewing, and hiring engineers both internally and externally and transferring accumulated knowledge, to build a talent pool of Systems Engineers
  • Experience of effectively coaching others and displays clear leadership behaviours, take ownership, and control of a situation and bring people with them even though they may not be direct reports
