Business Operations Manager

Reed Business Support in Cambridge are proud to be working with a highly respected regional firm of chartered accountants to recruit a Business Operations Manager who can revolutionise their internal procedures and systems.

Your mission: identify and recommend cutting-edge solutions to their Executive Board, focusing on client portals, secure messaging, proposal/engagement software, workflows, and document approval/signing. You'll also explore new service lines in virtual finance and client systems, harnessing the latest technology. Plus, you'll collaborate with our Making Tax Digital (MTD) group to shape our firm's MTD offerings and software recommendations.

Key Activities:

1. Internal Procedures

  • Dive deep into our accounts and tax preparation work, uncovering inefficiencies and streamlining processes.
  • Transform client onboarding by identifying and eliminating bottlenecks.
  • Recommend state-of-the-art secure portal/messaging systems for clients.
  • Propose innovative secure electronic document signing processes.
  • Evaluate and enhance their software usage to ensure they're leveraging the best tools available.
  • Analyse office procedures to identify and implement best practices firm-wide.
  • Collaborate with IT to address system-related needs.
  • Partner with the MTD Group to craft MTD solutions for the firm.
  • Lead the rollout and training for Hammock and Freeagent offerings for rental clients.
  • Develop and implement training for new processes, ensuring efficiency savings justify any increased costs.

2. Client Management

  • Conduct thorough reviews of client systems and processes, proposing improvements and efficiencies.
  • Present clients with new systems and processes, complete with training plans.

3. Meetings / Committees

  • Participate in Managers' meetings and specific committee meetings as needed.
  • Chair a cross-office group to discuss changes and optimize staff utilization, with manager/partner approval.
  • Engage in MTD Group meetings.

4. General

  • Handle general administrative tasks as required.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as needed.
  • Provide comprehensive support to Partners and managers.
  • Take on other reasonable work activities as determined by Partners and managers.
  • Pursue ongoing training to meet CPD criteria.

We're looking for an individual who has some experience in such matters and who is interested to widen their knowledge and experience. Great communication skills are essential, together with the ability to work in a team or independently. You should also be comfortable communicating to clients, including explaining complex matters in a clear and straightforward manner.

You should be self-motivated and have the ability to work well under pressure.
