Housing Solutions Officer

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Housing Solutions Officer for a Local Authority Client based in West London.

In this role, you will provide critical housing support and solutions to residents, helping to prevent homelessness and secure safe, sustainable accommodation.

About the role:

You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Offer personalised housing advice and information to individuals and families, helping them understand their options and access appropriate services.
  • Respond quickly to referrals, including those from the 'duty to refer' process, ensuring timely intervention to prevent homelessness.
  • Assess and verify housing applications under the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, including determining eligibility and assigning housing priority.
  • Manage cases involving vulnerable individuals with complex needs, such as mental health issues or substance abuse, coordinating appropriate support services.
  • Address and resolve enquiries, complaints, and correspondence from clients, advocates, and external bodies, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Proven experience working in a housing-related role, particularly within local government or the social housing sector.
  • Strong understanding of housing legislation, including the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and related policies.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals or families, particularly those facing homelessness, mental health issues, or substance abuse.
  • Experience negotiating with clients, landlords, and other parties to secure housing solutions.

What's on offer:

Salary: £20+ph

  • may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday - Friday, 36 hours per week
