BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

CONTRACT: PERMANENT – FULL TIME

LOCATION: WEST MIDLANDS

SALARY: £30,000 - £40,000 (Basic) PLUS UNCAPPED BONUS, £5k LOYALTY BONUS PAID EVERY 5 YRS & £7K CAR ALLOWANCE.

Are you currently working within B2B telesales, internal sales or account management and looking for the opportunity to develop into a BD role? If so, this role could be the perfect opportunity for you. You will ideally be in the chemical, plastics, polymer or coatings industry, selling into manufacturing companies who maybe working with paints, coatings, plastics, or adhesives & sealants and have the ability to develop relationships quickly and with ease.

Key tasks & duties: -

  • Establish excellent relationships by visiting existing and new customers. Assess customer needs and propose appropriate products and services.
  • Work with the Managing Director to develop pricing strategies that enable market share to be increased whilst generating an acceptable level of profitability.
  • Identify, research, and contact prospective customers and build positive relationships that will generate sales and repeat business.
  • Based on analysis, sales experience and customer input prepare and monitor budget, forecast and longer-term sales plans for defined customer groups and selected countries.
  • Prioritise and schedule own sales activities so that these targets are achieved.
  • Gather timely, accurate and complete market knowledge on products, customers, markets and competitors to contribute to the overall sales strategy.
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers to propose suitable products and solutions to the customer's exacting needs.

Your experience, skills and assets: -

  • B2B product telesales, internal sales, or account management to industrial/manufacturing/scientific is essential.
  • You will be a driven and hardworking individual who is keen to learn and grow.
  • Degree qualified within a scientific field would be advantageous.
  • Have the capacity to understand the market and the competition.
  • Possess excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Be tenacious, patient and consultative in your approach – the lead time for conversion can be up to 24 months.
  • Possess excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and prior knowledge of a regulated environment would be advantageous.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Communicative, able to work in an international environment.
  • Be able to work away on occasion including international travel 2-3 times per year for expos.
  • Possess a full, clean driving licence.
  • Be happy to be office-based Monday to Friday unless out with clients.
