Our client, a leading worldwide supply chain & freight forwarding specialist, with a unique mix of logistics and packaging optimization services on offer, are looking to recruit an Import Ocean Freight Forwarder, to be based at their offices in London.
Main Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Regional Manager, as an Ocean Freight Forwarder you will be part of the Import Operations Department in a multinational company, moving freight from all over the world via ocean and dealing with all aspects of quoting, forwarding, customs and 3rd parties through to completion. Duties and Responsibilities of the Import Ocean Freight Forwarder:
- Managing the whole Sea Import process from start to finish
- Bookings and managing subcontractors throughout the shipment process
- Managing all customs processes where required
- Assisting with Sea Exports wherever the company requires
- Completing all billing activities in line with company KPI's
- Creating and developing a positive working relationship with your allocated customers
- Contributing financially by maximizing gross profit on all shipments, and mitigating against any detention/demurrage/storage
- Negotiating contracts, transportation and handlings costs
- Checking and preparing documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements, packaging specifications, and compliance with overseas countries' regulations and fiscal regimes
- Liaising with and manage third parties in accordance with customer requirements
- Arranging insurance and assist the client in the event of a claim
- Communicating with the customer, maintain visibility and control through all phases of the journey, including the production of management reports, statistical and unit cost analyst
- Helping and support local business development opportunities
To Be Considered:
- A customer-orientated ability to work under pressure and solve problems independently
- Previous experience in the freight forwarding industry - specifically Sea freight is essential
- Team player with positive working attitude
- Ability to address multiple tasks, set work priorities, and organize work effectively
- Professional written and verbal communication skills in English, an additional language would be beneficial but not essential.
- An elevated level of energy with a "can-do" cheerful outlook and entrepreneurial spirit
- Eligibility to work in the UK is essential.
