Our client is a leading electronic specialist within design and manufacturers currently seeking a Laser Technician to join the growing team.

The Role

Due to extended growth, we are seeking a skilled Laser Technician, to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of laser equipment setup, operation, optimization, troubleshooting and routine maintenance. A core part of the role will include the development of new processing techniques and supporting cross-functional team activities.

Responsibilities

Equipment Operation and Optimization:

  • Setup, operate, and monitor laser systems for drilling, routing, and ablation processes.
  • Program and adjust laser parameters to optimize performance and quality.
  • Maximize production capacity and efficiency.
  • Calibration laser equipment including alignment and laser power.

Process Development and Improvement:

  • Develop laser settings, analyse and test to meet customer specification.
  • Define and document work instructions and maintenance procedures
  • Analyse production data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement process changes to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform routine maintenance on laser equipment, including cleaning and component replacement.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot laser system issues.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for complex repairs.
  • Liaise with machine manufacturer for servicing, repairs and upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs and equipment history records.
  • Define and maintain critical spares.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all laser safety protocols and regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Properly handle and dispose of materials used in laser processes.

  • Strong understanding of laser systems operation and maintenance.
  • Technical troubleshooting & process optimisation.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software to verify and troubleshoot input into laser software.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming.
  • Ability to work to drawings to confirm CAD output.
  • Self-disciplined and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Documentation and record-keeping.
  • Safety compliance.
  • Fast learner with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective communication skills.

Qulifications

  • A degree in a relevant engineering field is preferred.
  • NVQ and BTEC training levels with a high level of experience within a laser environment will be considered.

Experience

  • Experience in electronic, flexible printed circuit or general complex manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience operating industrial laser systems, preferably in PCB or flexible circuit manufacturing.
  • Experience with roll-to-roll manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrate data evaluation and documentation within a previous role.
