Infrastructure Engineer - The Infrastructure group delivers operations and engineering across Infrastructure Operations, Network, Communications and Surveillance, Endpoint and Platform Engineering teams with a key focus on Infrastructure as Code / automation & innovation. IT also includes the global IT Service Desk providing support and self-service to business users across the company, and it's Service Management team that runs core ITSM processes and develops the departmental tooling (Jira).

The Infrastructure Engineer applies specialist expertise in on-premises and cloud technologies to build, improve, and upgrade infrastructure systems across multiple platforms, including Virtualization, Office 365, Azure, AWS, and Domain Services. The ability to analyse systems and implement enhancements is fundamental to this role. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure issues and proven experience in automating manual tasks via scripting languages.

The Infrastructure Engineer collaborates with the global IT team across APAC, Europe, and North America to monitor and maintain infrastructure systems, ensuring maximum uptime and optimal service delivery to the business.

Responsibilities:

Role specific:

  • Work remotely with a minimum requirement of 2 days of office attendance.
  • Scope, implement, and document infrastructure projects.
  • Analyse infrastructure processes to produce improvements and automation.
  • Monitor infrastructure systems and participate in daily maintenance activities.
  • Investigate and analyse infrastructure issues, creating action plans for resolution.
  • Build relationships with the Global IT team, offering advice and support on projects.
  • Use Jira, the ticket management system, to log time and tasks daily.
  • Participate in Agile working methodology, delivering projects in sprints.
  • Follow the change control process for making changes to the production environment.
  • Be available on weekends to carry out infrastructure changes.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation (every 6-7 weeks).
  • Train and support the Service Desk in rolling out innovative technologies to the business.
  • Report on the priority, progress, effort, and cost of projects.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience with automation and scripting languages like PowerShell or Python.
  • Proficient in monitoring and alerting using tools like Splunk, Grafana, and Opsgenie.
  • Hands-on experience with IaC scripting languages like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft domain services (AD, DNS, DFS).
  • Extensive experience with virtualization technologies, both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Good understanding of the Office 365 Services (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to understand complex business requirements.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence and educate others.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, self-motivated, and eager to implement changes.
