Catering Assistant

I am looking for a dedicated Catering Assistant to join a busy team in Poole, providing exceptional support in the cafeteria. This role involves preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverages, as well as a variety of related catering duties. The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about food service and thrives in a dynamic busy environment.
Day to Day of the role:
- Prepare dining and service areas for service.
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverages.
- Handle cashier duties and manage cash transactions.
- Receive, check, and store stock deliveries, and manage inventory.
- Ensure stock displays are well-maintained, including stock rotation.
- Monitor and record fridge/freezer and hot food temperatures.
- Maintain cleanliness in catering areas to regulated standards.
- Replenish and clean vending machines.
- Deliver high levels of customer service and process sales accurately.
- Participate in mandatory training as required.
- Report any equipment or premises issues to the Unit Supervisor.
- Flexibility to cover other catering areas within a reasonable distance when needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Basic education, including English and Maths.
- Food hygiene certificate or NVQ L2 in food preparation and cooking, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in food preparation and cooking, either domestic or commercial.
- Ability to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
- Good customer care skills and knowledge of food safety, including allergens and food intolerance issues.
- Effective communication skills and a positive attitude towards change.
- Commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards and wearing a clean, provided uniform.
