I am looking for a dedicated Catering Assistant to join a busy team in Poole, providing exceptional support in the cafeteria. This role involves preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverages, as well as a variety of related catering duties. The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about food service and thrives in a dynamic busy environment.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Prepare dining and service areas for service.
  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverages.
  • Handle cashier duties and manage cash transactions.
  • Receive, check, and store stock deliveries, and manage inventory.
  • Ensure stock displays are well-maintained, including stock rotation.
  • Monitor and record fridge/freezer and hot food temperatures.
  • Maintain cleanliness in catering areas to regulated standards.
  • Replenish and clean vending machines.
  • Deliver high levels of customer service and process sales accurately.
  • Participate in mandatory training as required.
  • Report any equipment or premises issues to the Unit Supervisor.
  • Flexibility to cover other catering areas within a reasonable distance when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Basic education, including English and Maths.
  • Food hygiene certificate or NVQ L2 in food preparation and cooking, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in food preparation and cooking, either domestic or commercial.
  • Ability to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good customer care skills and knowledge of food safety, including allergens and food intolerance issues.
  • Effective communication skills and a positive attitude towards change.
  • Commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards and wearing a clean, provided uniform.
