I am recruiting an experienced Buyer to join a niche, privately owned business, based in Ellesmere Port. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious Buyer, with a background in the build or construction industry, to become part of an industry leading commercial team, at the forefront of the industry. Following a period of extensive growth, the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in operations, ensuring the smooth procurement and cost management of all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Procurement: Handle the full site procurement process, including scheduling from technical drawings, tendering, and placing orders within budget and deadlines.
  • Cost Management: Manage plant and prelim costs across various sites.
  • Variation Orders: Manage variation orders as they arise.
  • Invoice Management: Appraise invoices and address any recurring discrepancies.
  • Site Audits: Conduct monthly stock and specification audits on site visits.
  • Group Support: Assist the Group Procurement Manager in maintaining and upholding group deals and specifications.
  • Market Analysis: Maintaining knowledge of the changing market place to continually achieve competitive prices and investigate new sources of supply.

Experience/ Skills Required:

  • Proven experience (3-5 years minimum) in a similar role within a housebuilder or main contractor.
  • HNC in a construction-related subject.
  • Experience with procurement software (COINS preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel.
  • Experience estimating and taking off from working drawings.
  • Familiarity with NHBC standards is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Flexibility for travel to sites across the group.

This is a full-time role based on site in Ellesmere Port. Working hours are 8.30am-5.30p Monday t o Thursday and 8.3.am-3.30pm on Fridays.
