School IT Support Technician - Field based

Posted by Cringe Technologies.

Cringe Technologies, a leading local MSP for schools and colleges is looking for an experienced IT Support Technician with relevant experience to join our team covering the London area on a full-time basis.

We provide specialist IT support for schools after realising that schools often stumble over the same issues: not having a stable and reliable network, teaching staff not being confident enough with the equipment to deliver effective lessons and knowing the computing curriculum properly to deliver this accordingly.

As a consequence of our rapid growth, we are looking to recruit an IT Technician to join our growing team. You will provide IT technical support to all of its schools, mostly in the Enfield Borough, North London.

This is an excellent opportunity to progress your career with a well-established company!

About the Role

As part of this role, you will be based at a secondary school for four days of the week and at another school for the remaining day.

All schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Therefore, all company workers and employees are expected to share this commitment.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a comprehensive database of all support and fault requests and, with support, prioritising according to need
  • Providing support to staff and pupils as required in relation to the technical aspects of IT hardware, software, and cloud-based software.

  • Supporting the implementation of system and data backup procedures, ensuring that in the event of data loss the backups are fully functional
  • Support with management of Google Workspace across the Schools
  • Ensuring that the security entry system is maintained, staff and visitors have relevant access and ID badges are issued
  • Support with Antivirus protection, ensuring the domain is regularly checked for viruses or malware

Required Experience:

  • Providing IT support to the education sector or similar environment, both remotely and on-site, including managing users in Active Directory and assigning Group Policies
  • Supporting and troubleshooting AV equipment (projectors, smartboards, interactive touchscreens), Google Workspace, O365, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and migrating Windows OS from 10 to 11
  • Deploying images using SCCM/WDS, managing devices with MDM tools like Meraki or Jamf, and overseeing Intune
  • Handling security with Sophos Central

Required Skills:

  • A flexible and can-do approach to whatever tasks you may be asked to fulfil
  • The ability to work well with others
  • The confidence to use your initiative when required
