Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the mechanical performance, suitability for manufacture, and overall mechanical safety of our client's innovative products.
  • Lead and oversee a multi-disciplined team, driving the development of the next cutting-edge NPD targets.
  • Conduct mechanical design reviews, providing expert guidance to solve challenges and ensure NPD project disciplines are on track.
  • Mentor and coach senior mechanical engineers, fostering their skills growth and increasing their project responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director on strategic technology developments to seize current and future opportunities.

Requirements for Consideration:

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrix-structured team, including developing, training, mentoring, and appraising staff.
  • Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis, specifically in stiffness/vibration analysis, and the ability to apply it to engineering developments.
  • Strong analytical skills, paired with practical problem-solving abilities and acute attention to detail.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to conceive, visualise, and engineer complex mechanical systems quickly.
  • Experience in recognising when external mechanical expertise is required or a challenge needs to be approached differently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both internally and externally, with exposure to customers.

Required Personal Attributes:

  • Confident and intelligent with the ability to assume the technical lead and oversee a team of engineers.
  • Analytical, decisive, and constantly striving to learn and share knowledge for achieving common goals.
  • Deep understanding of the passion that drives technology professionals in their work.

Qualifications and Relevant Experience:

  • A good degree-level education in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a design lead/principal engineer role, encompassing the full product lifecycle and manufacturing engineering.
