Junior Accountant

My client, an insurance firm based in Central London, is seeking to hire a permanent and full-time Junior Accountant to join their growing team.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated and driven part qualified (ACCA / CIMA / ACA / AAT) candidate who is seeking to finish their studies.

This role will be based in their Paddington office, 2-days per week, and from home for 3 days.

Position Overview:

As a Junior Accountant, you will play a vital role within our finance department, reporting directly to two Finance Managers and a Financial Controller. This position encompasses various responsibilities, including reporting, financial accounting, and payments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals and gain exposure to a wide range of accounting activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting regulations and internal policies
  2. Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
  3. Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports, providing insights and analysis on financial performance
  4. Contribute to the maintenance of general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers
  5. Assist in the processing and verification of payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse financial data for reporting purposes
  7. Support the Finance Managers and Financial Controller in ad-hoc projects and financial analysis tasks

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience in accounting or finance
  2. Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices
  3. Proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting software
  4. Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
  5. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  7. Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
