Housing Solutions Officer

We are looking for a Housing Solutions Officer to join our Private Rented Solutions Team at Sheffield City Council. This role is focused on eviction prevention, working closely with landlords and tenants to find agreeable solutions that prevent eviction. The successful candidate will be part of a small, dedicated, and friendly team, helping hundreds of people secure quality private sector housing and contributing to our track record of establishing long-lasting tenancies.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work on our ‘call before you serve' Service to liaise with landlords considering serving notice to tenants, aiming to find agreeable solutions and help prevent eviction.
  • Prevent homelessness, hospital admissions, and delayed discharges from a range of supported and institutional accommodation and care.
  • Provide positive outcomes for clients using a full range of options and empowering them where possible.
  • Collect and interpret information relating to applications from various sources.
  • Support clients through the Council's Lettings Policy, including assistance with the bidding process.
  • Liaise with other statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
  • Respond to telephone, mail, and electronic enquiries in a professional and timely manner.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Understanding of, or experience working with, people facing homelessness.
  • Ability to pass a DBS check.
