Your New Role

In this role, you will manage the production of external financial reports for the School, focusing on year-end financial statements and compliance with the Office for Students, while liaising with external regulators as required. You will oversee the financial reporting for the School's associate companies, reviewing their year-end financial statements and management accounts. Additionally, you will be responsible for assessing the internal control environment by producing monthly accounting control packs, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies. A key aspect of the role involves managing corporate and local tax liabilities, including preparing VAT returns for the group and associate companies and working with external tax advisors. You will support the Associate Director of Finance by researching technical accounting queries, managing ad hoc reporting, and contributing to finance-related projects. The position also involves managing the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring accurate reconciliation, and overseeing amortization and depreciation processes, while collaborating with various departments. Further, you will assist with treasury matters, developing robust cash reporting procedures and investment reconciliations. Liaising with auditors, you will oversee month-end financial reporting for the LBS student association and GERA. You will also review monthly accounts for cost centers and support the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

To Ensure Your Success

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, as well as a professional qualification or comparable expertise in the field. They must demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences effectively. A strong background in software relevant to their area of specialism is required, including the ability to build basic models or tools. The candidate should have a solid working knowledge of relevant policies, regulations, and legislation, alongside exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. The role requires the ability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders, prioritize tasks, and focus on material issues. An in-depth knowledge of business education or the relevant specialist area is essential, as is experience in leading projects. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in managing external suppliers or contractors, coupled with strong financial management experience and commercial acumen.
