Car Planet Enfield is seeking a Workshop Manager adept in maximizing efficiency and output in a cost-effective manner for our extensive fleet of over 600 vehicles. The role demands someone skilled in balancing high-quality service with economical operations, directing a team on mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance while ensuring customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be organised, capable of engaging and motivating Vehicle Technicians, and adept at managing the dynamic demands of a high-volume workshop.
Core Responsibilities:
- Implement and track team performance metrics and objectives, driving productivity to new heights.
- Uphold rigorous quality control standards to guarantee service excellence.
- Recruit and cultivate a formidable squad of growing technicians, enriching their expertise with robust training and development initiatives.
- Enforce uncompromising adherence to Health & Safety practices, positioning safety as the bedrock of our operations.
- Navigate aftersales complexities and supervise our aftersales specialist, judiciously managing departmental expenditures.
- Engage in analytical problem-solving, demonstrating a strong individual capacity for tackling technical and operational challenges.
- Liaise daily with the Sales and Buying Department, ensuring smooth coordination and addressing queries from other departments.
- Plan incoming work efficiently, managing time and resources to maximize team productivity and meet deadlines.
- Perform quality checks, order parts, and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Required Expertise:
- Demonstrable track record as a Workshop Supervisor or Manager, preferably within a bustling car supermarket or independent workshop setting.
- Commanding ability to oversee the day-to-day workflow of a high-traffic workshop.
- Professional credentials, ideally an NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid vehicle driver's license.
- Superior communication capabilities coupled with proficiency in IT.
- Proven proficiency in team leadership and resource management.
- Financial acumen, particularly in the oversight of parts advisor and aftersales specialist roles involving significant financial discretion.
- Strong technical knowledge and efficiency under pressure.
- A proactive, 'can-do' attitude, with excellent prioritization and organizational skills.
Remuneration:
- A competitive basic salary of up to £60k, commensurate with experience, and a performance-based end-of-year bonus.
Work Pattern:
- Alternating weekly schedule: Week 1 - Monday to Friday, Week 2 - Monday to Saturday
- Operational Hours: Monday to Friday: 08:30 - 18:00, Saturday: 09:00 - 18:00
