Fabricator

Launceston site.

The expected shift for this role is as follows

  • Tuesday to Saturday. Typically 8am to 6pm based on a 42.5 hour week at £15.75p/hr
  • Overtime is payable after 42.5 hours at 1.5 x basic rate and Sundays are 2 x base rate.
  • There is a call out rota - call outs are paid at normal overtime rate with minimum payment of 3 hours x 1.5 OT rate, or 3 hours x 2 OT rate if called out on a Sunday. Call out is generally one week in 4/5

(There is an opportunity to start at a higher pay scale if you already have enough qualifications/experience at £17.25p/hr)

They are an established and experienced business dealing in the treatment and processing of sheep fleeces and skins used in the production of clothing and home furnishings.

What is the purpose of the Fabricator?

The fabricator's job is to ensure that plant equipment operates and functions correctly, leveraging proven mechanical knowledge and stainless steel fabrication skills. This role involves maintaining equipment daily to ensure it is fit for its intended purpose and performing building maintenance as needed. Fabricators continually develop and improve operations to enhance quality, cost efficiency, and safety. They assist production teams by troubleshooting machinery problems, setting up equipment, and providing relevant training. Additionally, fabricators complete daily maintenance check sheets and job cards to document their work.

What are the responsibilities of the Fabricator?

  • Ensuring plant equipment is operating and functioning correctly
  • Proven mechanical knowledge
  • Building maintenance.
  • Stainless Steel fabrication skills
  • Maintaining equipment on a daily basis to ensure it is fit for its intended purpose
  • Continually developing to improve operations to drive improvements in quality, cost and safety.
  • Assisting production with machinery problems and setups, providing relevant training when appropriate
  • Completing daily maintenance check sheets and job cards
  • TIG Welding an advantage

What qualifications and experience will you need as the Fabricator?

  • Proven experience in welding and fabrication
  • Ability to fabricate and work with metal.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to plan workloads effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, commitment and the ability to accept responsibility are key in this role.
  • Will be committed to working within the Company Mission, Vision & Values.
  • Food industry experience is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working at height.
