Location: Cannock

Salary: £27,040 - £29,120 per annum

Hours: 35-40 hours per week

Parent partnership is such a crucial part of their job and as Deputy Manager, you would play and integral role in developing these relationships.

They have a very child centred approach to the delivery of care to their children and families. Their bespoke curriculum reflects the very best practise from a selection of pedagogical approaches to meet the needs of all their children. They truly believe that each child deserves a curriculum that is appropriate for them. Their highly experienced management team, of which you would be part of support and guide staff to ensure thoughtfully planned invitations to play and in the moment planning opportunities are delivered through quality interactions.

The Role

You would be working as part of the management team, shaping the direction of the business, developing plans to move the Nursery forward adopting their vision of excellence in childcare. This will involve delivering staff training and supporting staff who are progressing in their career as apprentices and those studying for higher qualification. They will support training opportunities for career progression, for example the level 5 management course, or progression to the Early Years Degree course. Continued professional development is encouraged for all staff, they are keen to support staff who wish to engage in further qualifications.

To ensure you are able to complete your role to a high standard and achieve a work life balance, you would be working 40-50% out of ratio - subject to any staff absences. During your time in the setting you will modelling exceptional practise, supporting staff to upskill, develop an inviting and engaging environment in which children thrive. Modelling to and coaching staff with strategies to support children's behaviour, special educational needs and general steps in development. You will be training at level 2 safeguarding and take on the role of DSL, working alongside the Manager to ensure the smooth running of the setting. You would be an ambassador to the nursery, and lead by example.

Key Responsibilities

To support the manager in the smooth running of the setting this will include but is not inclusive of:

  • Demonstrating outstanding practice
  • Supporting the staff team in developing practise though modelling and or training
  • Liaising with parents and other professional agencies to support children's learning.
  • Reviewing policy and procedure and ensuring policy is followed at all times
  • Taking the lead in the absence of the manager
  • Understanding the needs of the business.
  • Being an ambassador to the nursery.
  • To take responsibility for 1 area of the nursery - this could be SENCO, health and safety, parent partnership, student support, Early years lead- see your agreed schedule
  • To understand registers/booking systems including funding
  • Support staff teams with planning
  • To support the organisation of open days/ parent workshop/ parents meetings etc which may be outside of your normal hours.
  • Liaise with the school/parents
  • To support the manager in the nursery as requested.
  • To conduct supervision interviews and support staff to reach targets.
  • To support the manager as Designated Safeguarding lead.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification or above essential
  • Management experience preferable
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development training
  • Desire to continue with professional development
  • To have a current live DBS
  • In date Paediatric First Aid certificate
  • Understanding of Equal Opportunities
  • Awareness of Health & Safety and practical Hygiene issues
  • Able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of child development and the EYFS
  • Experience of, or an interest in the role of SENCO would be favourable
