Role Profile:

Our client is a leader in the Rail Rolling Stock Manufacturing sector. Working at their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, you will be the subject matter expert specifically within their car-bodies/welding department working as part of the wider manufacturing engineering team. You will be supporting the manufacturing processes scope from inception / mobilisation to delivery, covering such as from technical review. BOMs maintenance, tooling, technical support, methods / process development, design study, workstation layout et-al ensuring best practice and innovation throughout.

Role requirements:

  • Review of technical design drawings and specifications
  • Creation, review and maintenance of MBOMs & SOPS
  • Continuous improvements of workstation layouts and storage areas
  • Reviewing specification and evaluating of production tools
  • Producing business cases for Capex projects
  • Design and acquisition of relevant jigs and fixtures
  • Providing technical support to all staff to ensure technical specifications are achieved in line with all manufacturing competencies, SOPs, MBOMBs, SOPS and equipment provided. This includes keeping all business systems up to date with relevant information. (SAP, SharePoint, Windchill etc)
  • Full responsibility for the implementation of design changes, including MCN management
  • Mentorship and training of Junior Engineers where appropriate

Background and skill sets:

  • A strong background in manufacturing/production engineering is a must
  • A HNC qualification or above in some form of Engineering discipline
  • Candidates must have an understand of welding procedures and processes
  • Experience using SAP systems would be advantageous
