Driver Training Officer

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking a proactive and business-savvy individual to enhance our Driver Training Team. In a concerted effort to reduce road incidents and promote safety, you will play a pivotal role in administering driving assessments and training on specialist equipment as part of our Driving Assessment Scheme. Your contributions will directly impact HCC staff, educational institutions, community transport services, and various other groups within Hertfordshire.

About the role

As a key member of our intimate team, you will:

  • Provide expert advice on our driving assessment scheme and specialist equipment training.
  • Manage bookings and oversee the execution of the Driving Assessment Scheme.
  • Innovate and implement D1 training, winter driving courses, and other initiatives aligned with 'Work Related Road Safety' efforts.
  • Receive ongoing role-specific training to ensure excellence in service delivery.

This role is dynamic, with new responsibilities continually integrated into the team's objectives.

About you

Essential:

  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse groups.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Road Safety and the Highway Code.
  • Possession of an unrestricted D1 licence for over 3 years (excluding D101 grandfather rights).
  • Certified Driving Assessor (minimum Level 2).
  • Minimum of RoSPA Silver standard.

Desirable:

  • ADI licence holder.
  • PTTLS Level 3 or a commitment to achieve this qualification.
