Accounts Administrator - Leading International Company
Location: Stanley, Durham
Contract duration - 9 mth FTC
Salary: £25k + benefits
Our client is a leading independent scientific group providing laboratory analysis to the agriculture, food, and environmental sectors. Covering maternity leave for the current incumbent, we are excited to support the company by recruiting a talented, career-minded individual who will play a key role in the Finance Team and supporting the broader business to ensure the site operates and delivers its goals effectively.
Job Role and Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage and collect all company debts.
- Evaluate new credit requests and review customers' credit ratings.
- Set up terms and conditions of credit.
- Prepare and send monthly statements.
- Reconcile company bank accounts.
- Manage sales and purchase ledgers.
- Conduct AR (Accounts Receivable) and AP (Accounts Payable) ageing reporting.
- Maintain accurate notes on account statuses and up-to-date contact details.
- Respond to relevant client inquiries.
- Establish, develop, and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Take ownership of customer queries, resolving them efficiently to satisfy both the business and the customer.
- Ensure all customer files are up to date and in order.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports.
- Maintain accurate records using Xero, including customer contact records.
- Manage the credit card program for participating employees.
- Manage time sheets for overtime in collaboration with HR.
- Provide ad hoc support to the external accounting firm during month-end.
- Work collaboratively with all departments within the business to build cross-functional relationships.
Qualifications and Experience:
- College or University degree preferred.
- Demonstrable experience of AR & AP processing.
- Previous relevant financial administration experience.
- Good working knowledge of account functions and processes.
- Experience working with customer service and sales teams.
- Internal or external auditing experience would be an advantage.
Skills:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical accounting skills.
- Ability to analyse and explain financials to non-financial staff.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- High-level skills in learning and navigating ERP systems.
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement.
