Policy and Partnerships Manager

Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Policy and Partnerships Manager to join Avon and Somerset Police to develop, deliver & monitor work within the Government initiative of Anti-social behaviour & Serious Violence Hotspot programme across A&S, working with a wide range of internal/external stakeholders and partners.

This post would be temporary initially until 31st March 2025.

You would be based in Portishead. This is a full time post working 37 hours, Monday - Friday... however the Force are also happy to consider applicants who are looking for part time hours.

The rate of pay is £18.12 per hour.

Main responsibilities:

Policy

  • Develop and maintain awareness of local issues and policy, under taking research as required to support the PCC in their role and decision making.
  • Track national developments, including through ongoing review of communications from the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners and working with OPCC colleagues to consider and respond appropriately.
  • Provide high quality advice, briefing and reports to the PCC, DPCC and OPCC colleague son matters of local, regional and national policy relating to the PCC's remit and functions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of OPCC policies, plans and strategies.
  • Work with colleagues to support the PCC to come to a position on particular issues, either articulated in the Police and Crime Plan or arising during the term of office and support the articulation of these.
  • Prepare speeches, briefings, reports and responses to public correspondence.
  • Prepare reports, briefings and presentations to support the PCC in this work and attend and support meetings as required.

Partnerships

  • Develop effective relationships with relevant parts of Avon and Somerset Police and other stakeholders to inform policy and research activity.
  • Work effectively in partnership with relevant bodies and agencies, maintaining an open and solution-focused approach to support delivery of the Police and Crime Plan, representing the OPCC on strategic partnerships as required.
  • Work with Communications and Engagement colleagues to identify opportunities for the PCC to engage with communities and partners who align with our priorities and work together on shared agendas.
  • Support the consultation and engagement work of the OPCC as required.

Competencies, skills & experience:

  • Successful experience and/or knowledge within a local authority, policing or relevant public or voluntary sector organisation.
  • Relevant knowledge of policing and crime policy.
  • Previous experience of working in a Policy, Commissioning or Performance / Continuous Improvement role.
  • Ability to manage a large and diverse portfolio of work with competing deadlines. Ability to be flexible to respond to changing priorities
  • Ability to analyse and present information in a range of formats. Ability to interpret data, policy, reports, research etc. and advise on specific issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Understanding of confidentiality and information governance.
  • Strong ICT skills and competent to use a range of IT packages including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to advise, persuade and influence stakeholders in a professional and effective manner and in a way that establishes confidence, credibility and trust.
  • Able to develop and support productive working relationships. Ability to coach, task and support team members.
  • Ability to identify risks and make suggestions around how to mitigate and manage them.
  • Basic project management skills and/or experience.
