This outstanding primary school in Islington is looking for an experienced Year 2 teacher to take on phonics responsibilities. A strong phonics track record is key as it is an area you would be expected to lead.

  • Degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • At least three years of class teaching experience in year 2 or 3 classes within a primary school and some experience of leading.
  • Experience of working with speakers of English as an Additional Language.
  • Experience of successfully leading others, in some capacity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of assessment for learning.
  • Experience teaching phonics.
  • The ability to maintain high standards of behaviour and excellent discipline using positive strategies.
  • The ability to lead other adults as well as work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • The ability to train, support and challenge others when necessary.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Passionate about education and particularly determined to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
  • Evidence of continuous INSET and commitment to further professional development.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of children's workforce professionals.
  • Knowledge of primary teaching and learning styles.
  • A good understanding of inclusion issues e.g. SEN, EAL, G&T, refugee etc.
