What this role is all about:

The mission is to develop and maintain a resilient, scalable and repeatable IT Service Management application (ITSM), that is used across Vitality as an entry point to Services for both internal colleagues and external members and partners.

Working alongside teams across the business, the role holder will assist in day-to-day operation and support of services and integrations within our ITSM application. This requires a deep understanding of the services, and knowledge of the services that utilise the ITSM to support their customers.

Overcoming technical and logistical challenges to ensure smooth service operation is imperative.

The role holder will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing solutions that align with our business objectives. This includes responsibility for managing multiple projects, ensuring high-quality delivery, and adhering to industry standards. A deep understanding of ITSM, ITIL, and CMDB will be essential in maintaining our IT infrastructure and service management processes.

Key Actions

  • Maintain the ITSM application, services, and integrations to a high standard.
  • Work closely with the IT and business teams to integrate the ITSM application with other systems and applications.
  • Migration of integrations from other applications into the ITSM system.
  • Oversee the QA, testing and release processes, following industry best practices.
  • Ensure that detailed documentation of application design is created and maintained.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the ITSM application and integrations.
  • Stay up to date with the product releases and understand how these can add value to the different business areas that use the ITSM application.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts of the team and the users of the ITSM application.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and team members.

Essential Skills needed to fulfil this role:

  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and under own direction.
  • Detail-oriented and possess strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Deep knowledge of ITSM, ITIL, and CMDB principles.
  • Extensive experience of designing, developing and implementing complex integrations, using GraphQL API, REST API, Webhooks, or similar.
  • Proficient in relevant coding languages JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other web technologies.
  • Experience in Agile toolsets (Ansible, Jenkins etc.)
  • Ability to plan resource requirements from high-level specifications.
  • Working with multiple stakeholders to automate end to end processes.
