Probate Consultant - Job Spec

Salary £32k-£40k per annum depending on experience and qualifications. Enrolment to company pension scheme together with wellbeing and retail discount employee benefits. Annual leave allowance 31 days including Bank Holidays. Salary based on 37.5-hour week, office-based, Monday to Friday. Potential for hybrid role.

Adecco are delighted to be working with a market leading Will writing company based in West London. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to progress their legal career by joining a dynamic team within this ambitious, busy company. We are currently looking for a Probate Consultant to join our London office and undertake a range of practice tasks within our expanding Probate department.

The core role will be to:

  • Attend appointments with Executors either in person or video appointment.
  • Assist Executors with their application for a Grant of Probate, together with advising on estate administration procedures.
  • Take instructions from Executors for estate administration cases that will be prepared for Solicitor application. Liaise with external Solicitors and Executor throughout administration process.

We have a fast-paced business model, with client satisfaction at the forefront of our business ethos. Our Probate department has in the region of 100 deceased accounts reported each month, with approximately 50% requiring an application for a Grant of Probate. The successful candidate will be responsible for organising accounts into categories that either require Executor support or convert to full estate administration services.

The role is client facing and therefore the Probate Consultant is also responsible for written communication to clients that require clarification or technical advice. Extensive knowledge of Wills, Trusts, Inheritance Tax and estate administration is required, therefore the role would suit either an ex-solicitor, someone progressing through STEP diploma or experienced paralegal.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Combination of Law Degree with CILEx/LPC/STEP Advanced Certificates in Will Preparation, Administration of Estates and Trust
  • Sound knowledge of Wills, Trusts, Inheritance Tax and Probate process
  • Minimum 1- year experience of Probate practice and estate administration
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Commercial mind set
  • Outgoing, team player personality.
