Grafton Banks Finance Executive Search in Surrey has been retained to recruit a Finance Director for a fantastically successful and growing SME in Walton-on-Thames. The business is looking to recruit its first Finance Director to partner the MD and Owner to drive continued growth and revenue. You will manage a small and highly competent finance team and be a commercially and strategically focussed finance professional with a "hands on" approach. You could be either a current Finance Director looking for your next move or a Financial Controller/Head of Finance looking for the next step up in your career in order to apply.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Leadership and development of the existing finance team.
- Business partner the MD and Owner on all financial matters and growth strategy.
- Perform regular financial analysis.
- Develop budgets that meet the requirements of company departments.
- Supervise all audit and internal control processes.
- Prepare detailed reports on the company's financial performance.
- Prepare & present monthly management accounts (profit & loss, balance sheet, cashflow, budget, executive summary) to provide clear financial insight and direction.
- Guarantee compliance with financial laws and guidelines.
- Recognise patterns in company spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas.
- Managing the company's capital investment requirements, including decisions related to the appropriate timing of expenditure and sources of finance for these investments.
- Supporting the business departments tracking of new opportunities and projects versus business cases (both spend and return).
- Detailed financial planning, forecasting and analysis with rolling annual and five-year forecasts.
- Liaison with external stakeholders; investors, banks, accountants, legal advisors.
- Prepare the business of a potential future sale.
The person:
- Fully qualified accountant – ACA, CIMA, or ACCA essential.
- Experience as a Finance Director or Senior Controller looking for the next step up in career to FD.
- Previous experience of preparing a company or taking a company through an exit an advantage, although not essential.
- Previous fund raising an advantage although not essential.
- Previous experience of working in a product-based sector like Manufacturing, FMCG, Retail or similar essential.
- Previous experience of working in an SME environment with a hands-on yet commercial style essential.
- Outstanding leadership skills essential.
