Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Hays Education are working with a school in Sheffield who are in need of a number of Special Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants from September. The positions are temporary in the first instance, with the potential of becoming permanent further down the line.

The school are looking for staff to work in the main school, and also their new Alternative Provision which is opening in September. You will be working with students aged 3-16 with Special Educational Needs - some with Education, Health Care Plans (EHCPs), vulnerable and disengaged students and those with barriers to learning. You will be expected to support students on either a 1:1 or small group basis either in a full classroom or in a smaller, quieter setting. You may also be required to liaise with other staff in school and parents/carers. These are full-time jobs working 37 hours a week.

In order to apply for these jobs you must:

  • Have experience working with children/adults with Special Educational Needs. This doesn't have to be in a school setting but does need to be within the last 2 years
  • Be available to start work on 02/09/2024
  • Have a valid, enhanced DBS registered with the DBS Update Service. Or be willing to apply for a new one
  • A Level 2/3 or 4 Teaching Assistant qualification would be beneficial but not essential
