Assistant Management Accountant Study Support

Role - Assistant Management Accountant

Salary - up to £35k

Location - Hybrid

Purpose of role

Our client is seeking a talented Assistant Management Accountant to support their thriving finance team. In a business critical role, you will be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts in accurate and timely manner working in tandem with the Management Accountant. The aspiring candidate will also be responsible for purchase ledger, reconciling stock, performing bank reconciliations, and and hoc support the the FC & FD.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial reports for operational directors
  • Ensure proper coding and authorisation of food and beverage invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and present to Financial Accountant for review
  • Assist Financial Accountant with tasks such as audit support and raising purchase orders for capital expenditure
  • stock counts and reconciliation with financial accounts
  • Complete month-end processes, such as prepayments, accruals, and data extraction for journal entries
  • Accurately post weekly revenue, bank discrepancies, and track utility usage
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and month-end reporting
  • Maintain and update business process documentation
  • Support senior management with ad-hoc requests and external auditor requirements
  • Maintain approval matrix for new and departing employees
  • Reconcile stock (food and beverage and other) and investigate variances
  • Support transition to new financial systems and participate in project meetings
  • Implement internal controls
  • Travel to various locations as needed
  • Support transition to new financial close calendar
  • Assist with special projects as assigned

Essential skills and experience

  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Ability to multi-task, remain motivated, and maintain a positive attitude
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and financial software
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (PIVOTS, LookUps, SumIFs)
  • Ability to work independently, self-manage, and meet deadlines
  • Proactive and adaptable to a growing business environment
  • Problem-solving attitude

Qualifications & Education

  • Ideally studying towards cima/aca/acca - candidates who are yet to study will also be considered
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and formulas (sumifs, vlookups)
  • Minimum of 2 year of experience working within finance
